3 Lessons I've Learned from Creation Science

3 Lessons I've Learned from Creation Science

by Jake Ramgren

Happy New Year!

In 2025, the name "Creation Reformation" went from the title of a seminar I gave to 50 people in a school library to:

  • A conference featuring 5 speakers and over 150 attendees total
  • A movement encompassing individuals from multiple different institutions, including a local science teacher, a writer of a creation science blog, and the founder of Bible Adventure Land
  • A monthly newsletter
  • A website with a blog, art gallery, creation science page, etc.
  • A YouTube channel that began in October which as we head into the New Year as over 7,000 views and nearly 100 subscribers

In 2026, we hope to continue to expand Creation Reformation. We look forward to more videos, interviews, and creation science education. We look forward to a second Creation Reformation Conference. We look forward to expanding Bible Adventure Land and seeing where God takes it. We look forward to doing more events in the community of New England, bringing speakers from out of town, doing museum tours in Springfield, New Haven, and Boston, and giving our own seminars at local churches.

But as we start the new year, let's remind ourselves what creation science is all about. Our first video of 2026 details three important lessons I've learned from being part of the creation science movement. It's been an amazing five years of conferences, research, writing, meeting scientists, building connections, and starting up a new resource! Here are three things I've learned....

1. We Don't Know Everything... And That's a Good Thing

Many Christians are apologists, and so it is their job to answer the many challenges thrown at Christians by skeptics and critics. In such forums, it is important for the Christian to have all the answers, and it is difficult for an apologist to say "I don't know" even though from a Christian perspective, there is a lot we don't know or understand!

In the realm of science, creationists are against the mold, arguing for a model that is completely contrary to the scientific consensus. Similar to apologists, creationists must find answers to the many challenges posed by mainstream science, and this is why we have creation apologetics organizations like "Answers in Genesis."

But if we were to make a creation organization built on scientific research, it would probably be better to name it "Questions in Genesis" because there is a lot we don't know. Just off the top of my head, we don't know how animals diversified and spread after the flood, how non-avian dinosaurs went extinct, why there are no human fossils in flood layers, how radioactive decay occurred faster than current rates suggest (though we have evidence that did happen), and how many created kinds there are. We have barely scratched the surface of building a comprehensive creation model. My first creation conference I ever attended was so important for my career because it showed me that creation science is a relatively new field, and as such it does not yet have the explanatory power of mainstream theories.

Yet.

Here at Creation Reformation, we are going to do our best to update you on this scientific movement, filling you in whenever progress is made or research is done. It means we have a direction to go in. Because having questions is a good thing. It means we have things to research. Admitting that we don't know everything is a strength of creationism just as it is a strength for conventional science. It keeps us searching, experimenting, and learning more. And the moment creationists think we are closer to solving a scientific challenge, Creation Reformation will be here to let you know.

2. The Theory of Evolution is Compelling... But the future of Creation Science is Bright.

Not many things are harder than convincing an evolutionist that creationism is true. But one thing that might actually be harder is convincing creationists that evolution is not a conspiracy, and that it is really a very compelling and elegant theory. It explains the biodiversity of life on earth very well. But what I continually remind people of all the time is that when I say "there is evidence for evolution" I am not saying "all of evolution is true." Those are two different claims. At one time in history, naturalists had gathered lots of evidence that life spontaneously sprung from nonlife all the time. But that was false.

Not only will Creation Reformation help you keep tabs on creation research, we will also be doing creation research ourselves! Ivan Kirpichev's research on the Connecticut River Valley is explaining the geological formations here in New England from the perspective of a worldwide flood, and his results challenge the conventional model for the region. As for me, I am teaming up with scientists in England doing research on invasive species, testing ways we can use invasives to build a model for diversification after the flood.

It was an inspiring lesson for me to learn that we should not be daunted by the power of the current conventional theory. Instead, we should get to work learning more about the wonderful world God has made for us to study. The history of creationism teaches us that the future is bright indeed.

3. We Must Not Fear the Evidence... Because It Can Only Lead Us to the Truth!

Some ideas we will discuss are challenging, difficult, or even worrying. Sometimes we have to rethink what we believe. Encountering challenging ideas sometimes makes us worry and stress that we might be wrong. As Christians, we have a firm foundation in the Word of God, which gives us peace and comfort. But when scientific ideas challenge our interpretation or understanding of the Word, our gut reaction is to dismiss them. We shut them down and say "well, that can't be true." But the best response to new ideas is not to dismiss them immediately, but to research deeper. The answer is to find the ideas that make you MOST apprehensive and nervous and go study those. Because there is Truth in the world, and running away from the evidence is a sure way to make sure you won't find it. And if the Bible is what it claims to be, then fearing the truth is doing disservice to ourselves. Christians should be pursuing truth more than anyone!

One thing I can assure you is that Creation Reformation is not here to tear down conventional science. We also, to the best of our abilities, won't be going out of our way to deny evidence, hide the truth, and pretend all the evidence falls in our favor. If we have questions, we will ask them. If we encounter challenges, we will explore them. 2026 will be full of videos, articles, and research designed to go right at the evidence and not to shy away for fear of what we might find. Because Christians should love the Truth. It is the Truth that sets us free!

Thank you for joining us, and we pray you have a blessed 2026!
